Kenneth Ma expressed he has gained deep understanding of those in the medical field after shooting The Hippocratic Crush. Doctors/Nurses, aside from not having any time due to the nature of their work, but they are also very stressed when it comes to rescuing people’s lives. He claims he’s not good in school, but he just hopes to send a positive message through this series and impact more of the younger generation to become doctors. In the series, his role ‘Cheung Yat Kin’ was responsible for a car accident that resulted in his brother’s paralyzed legs. Yat Kin regretted it all along. Since youth Yat Kin wanted to be a doctor and earn enough money to support his brother to study aboard. He hopes for medical advances and one day his brother can walk again. Kenneth expressed he really liked THC’s script. It’s not just about love and cases, but it also highlights the difficulty and constraints doctors have via the medical cases. He believes Yat Kin may appear very strong on the outside, but on the inside he’s flawed. He’s a doctor, not God. When he encounter troubles, he’ll fall down to rock bottom in life and eventually Yue Jai (Tavia) helps him get back up. Kenneth said this series is very realistic, and the filming was very serious.

Kenneth also greatly praises that Tavia is fantastic, she is professional and serious: “She has a deep understanding of the script. When we were filming, all of the suggestions she gave were useful. The only thing that displeases me is that Ah Yi (Tavia) just has rumors with Him Law…” He continues: “Ah Yi doesn’t have rumors with me…rumors is the way to gain more money earning opportunities as a couple team, there’s no benefit for me! In order to move from a small home to a bigger one, I have to work hard and earn more!”

[Source: Singtao]Yesterday Tavia Yeung was on Eileen Cha’s CRHK radio interview, when speaking of The Hippocratic Crush, Tavia urges Kenneth to speed it up on pursuing ‘Yue Jai’ (her role). Kenneth said he didn’t mind having rumors with her? Tavia said: “He says that to every girl. I don’t get his mentality.” She also agreed that Kenneth is a ‘Best Deal’: “I’m the #1 Best Deal and Kenneth is #2, Him Law is just catching up, he needs to add oil.”

In the series, Tavia takes initiative and confesses her love for Kenneth, but in reality because she’s too busy working, she can’t take initiative to express any love. However, she does encourage girls to take initiative and really fight for their happiness.

Tavia Yeung, Him Law, Kenneth Ma and Mandy Wong attended TVB series The Hippocratic Crush promotional event yesterday. It was announced at the event that last week the series averaged at 30 points and peaked at 33 points.

When Him mentioned the diving scene that broadcast last night, where he only appeared on-screen with swim trunks, Him felt his body figure was much more fit than now. Him said: “I think it’s pretty good. (Did Tavia praise your body figure?) Yes, but she didn’t touch.” Tavia also greatly praised Him’s sexy body figure and exposed that day when they were shooting the swim trunk scene, she couldn’t help but: “touch him for behind.” Asked if she thinks Him’s amazing? She said: “It’s good for men to have a built figure!”

However, Him will soon give up his built figure and switch to a slender figure to accommodate for his new series. Him frankly said he loves the built figure because he’ll look better in his clothing.

When Tavia learned Him will be losing the muscles for his new series, she said: “Most important is to be healthy! At my age, I won’t try to change my body figure for a series because I fear gaining weight just to shoot a series will affect my health. Also, Myolie Wu gained a lot of weight to shoot a series before, she’s already a representative, so I don’t have to go purposely do it.”

As for Kenneth Ma, earlier he exposed his previous relationship with Nancy Wu. Nancy was displeased by the exposure and blamed him for trying to get publicity. Kenneth explained: “She probably said it in a joking way. (Did you ask her prior to exposing?) Yes, because the public said she’s greedy for fortunes and has ‘princess illness’, so I wanted to help her clarify. Also, we are still friends now. (What is the reason to the break up?) I already explained, not going to talk about it anymore! I don’t want to her to say I’m trying to get publicity again.”

Tavia Yeung Praises Him Law’s Sexy Body

Rumored couple, Tavia Yeung (??) and Him Law (???), promoted their TVB drama, The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36??>yesterday. In a recent broadcast episode, Him Law was featured in figure hugging swimming trunks. Him laughed, “I think it looks pretty good!” (Did Tavia praise you?) “Yes, but she did not touch!” Tavia highly praised Him, “He looks great! I secretly touched him from behind!”

Recently Kenneth Ma (???) admitted dating Nancy Wu (???) in the past, which incurred Nancy’s  dissatisfaction that he was using the incident for publicity. Kenneth explained, “She was likely smiling when she said that!” (Prior to revealing your past relationship, did you consult with Nancy?) “Yes, the press accused her of being greedy for money. I just wanted to clarify on her behalf. In addition, we are good friends now.”

Asked what was the reason for the breakup, Kenneth replied, “I have already responded on this question earlier and will not talk about it anymore!”

Recently, several series produced by TVB have been accused of plagiarizing other productions and lacks creativity. As the criticisms are still heard in the ear, this week Kenneth Ma and Tavia Yeung’s medical drama The Hippocratic Crush (THC) premiered and suspicion of plagiarism emerges once again. This time viewers said that THC is a rip off of Mainland drama Healing Souls (HS) starring Francis Ng and Jessica Hsuan.

ATV bought the broadcast rights to air Healing Souls in 2008. After several years, it unexpectedly gets plagiarized by TVB. Looking back at the two series, it does indeed contain a lot of similarities. Although, TVB’s The Hippocratic Crush only aired 4 episodes so far, the scene in the first episode about the unconscious child after a car accident and the ‘Neurosurgery Intern’, played by Kenneth Ma, happened to pass by to rescue him was the same type of scene as in Healing Souls’s first episode. In HS, the scene was about a car accident, in which ‘Neurosurgery Doctor’, played by Francis Ng, also went to rescue the injured person. The two series were precisely the same from the first episode!

More ‘coincidences’ of the characters & setting

As far as the storyline goes for the two series, there are ‘coincidences’ as well. In both series, the lead actresses Jessica Hsuan (from HS) and Tavia Yeung (from THC) were both medical interns. The same holds true for the lead actors, Francis Ng (from HS) and Kenneth Ma (from THC), both did not get along with the lead actresses at first, but later developed a relationship.

In THC, Tavia’s role grew up in a single-parent family because her parents were divorced and her mother later re-married. Many years later, Tavia and her biological sister Mandy Wong worked at the same hospital. In HS, Jessica’s parents were divorced and she grew up in a single-parent family as well. The difference is, Jessica’s father was the one who re-married and had a daughter (played by Liu Jia). Several years later, Jessica and her half-sister Liu Jia worked at the same hospital. There are too many coincidences between the two story lines. Reporters contacted The Hippocratic Crush’s producer Poon Ka Tak about the issue, but he only said: “No comment!”

Past ‘plagiarized’ series

L’Escargot
This series just finished airing, but it was said to have plagiarized popular Mainland drama Dwelling Narrowness because Linda Chung’s role was basically the pirated version of ‘Hai Zao’. Both roles undertaken unethical transactions because they wanted to climb up top.

The Mysteries of Love
The series stars Raymond Lam and Tavia Yeung. Netizens said it was a copy off of Japanese drama Detective Galileo. Whether if its the story, the characters, profession or the personalities, it is all very similar to Detective Galileo.

Split Second
This 2004 series stars Kevin Cheng and Moses Chan. At the time, viewers said it was a copy off of the films Infernal Affairs, PTU and American series 24. Moses’ role is similar to Anthony Wong’s role in Infernal Affairs, many of the scenes resembled scene seen in PTU and the whole entire concept of the series was similar to 24.

“The Hippocratic Crush” Receives Plagiarism Accusations and Lukewarm Reception

TVB’s new drama, The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36??>, starring Tavia Yeung (??) and Kenneth Ma (???), aired this week in Hong Kong. It was unexpected that after the broadcast of only the fourth episode, netizens have already revealed the developing plot details. It turned out that The Hippocratic Crush may have plagiarized 2008 drama, Healing Souls <?????> starring Francis Ng (???) and Jessica Hsuan (??)! Asked to comment upon the plagiarism accusations, The Hippocratic Crush producer, Poon Ka Tak (???), replied, “No comment!”

In recent years, TVB’s dramas were often accused of plagiarizing other productions and lacking creativity. After ATV secured the broadcast rights for Healing Souls, ATV aired the drama in 2008. Comparing The Hippocratic Crush with Healing Souls, numerous similarities exist. In the first episode, neurosurgeon intern, Kenneth Ma, rescued the life of a traffic accident victim.  This resembled a scene in Healing Souls where neurosurgeon, Francis Ng, rescued a victim in an automobile accident as well!

Same Characters and Background Just A Coincidence

The similarities in the background story between The Hippocratic Crush and Healing Soulsmay have been a “coincidence.” Both Tavia Yang and Jessica Hsuan portrayed “interns” and were bickering couples with Kenneth Ma and Francis Ng.

Worse still, Tavia grew up in a single-parent family as a child; while her mother was pregnant, her mother remarried. Years later, Tavia met her sister, Mandy Wong (???), for the first time [without recognizing their sister relationship] at the hospital that the both of them work at. In Healing Souls, after Jessica’s parents’ divorce, her father had another  daughter. Many years later, Jessica met her half-sister at the hospital that the pair worked at. The contents of both dramas were coincidentally the same!

Asked to comment regarding the plagiarism claims, Producer Poon Ka Tak, only said, “I have no response!
